Due to the sensitive nature of animal research, security is necessarily strictly enforced. As outlined above in the visitor policy, entry into the vivaria are closely monitored. In addition, many facilities are accessible only during working hours. A security access card is required for entry to all ACP vivaria. Access cards can be obtained on a recharge basis from the vivarium office at the Basic Science Building. All personnel requesting an access card must be listed in an active animal use protocol. Requests need to include the Investigator's name, mail code, phone extension, and budget number. Cards are issued for the length of study, as determined by the Animal Use Protocol. Issuance of cards is limited to essential vivarium research personnel. If a security card is lost or stolen, please notify the vivarium office coordinator immediately at extension 44262.
