The Animal Care Program maintains anesthetic and surgical support equipment for rental by investigators. To rent this equipment, the Principal Investigator or representative can make arrangements with the Clinical Veterinary Technician. and complete the appropriate Rental agreement form. ACP will train and demonstrate the proper use of the equipment, if necessary. For additional information, contact ACP at extension 25893.

Equipment Rental and Anesthesia Machine Rental Agreement forms must be completed, signed and returned to the Clinical RVT so the equipment can be prepared. ACP personnel will ensure the equipment is clean, functional, and otherwise ready to use. Normal rental fees include routine maintenance and replenishing of needed materials. The Investigator will be recharged for the following: the use of the equipment, transportation to facilities off-campus, and any repairs needed for damage occurring as a result of the investigator's misuse or negligence (this includes replacement cost, if applicable). The equipment must be returned in the same condition it was received (i.e., vaporizer empty, machine clean).

If ACP staff must spend extra time cleaning equipment, this will be recharged to the PI. If equipment is not returned at the previously arranged time the Investigator will be recharged for each additional day it is unavailable. The investigator and/or representative is responsible for being familiar with the operation of the equipment prior to its use. ACP will train and demonstrate the proper use of the equipment if necessary.
